Special Sunday Morning Worship Services

We have some special services that have become beloved traditions.

Our church year begins in mid/late-August with a celebration of renewal as a congregation, as we participate in our Ingathering and Water Communion. In this intergenerational service, we honor and bless the work of our upcoming church year.

Several times throughout the year, our Ministry with Children & Youth and Social Justice committee work closely with the worship team to offer ‘Faith In Action’ Sundays. In a world that is often pushing back against our values, Unitarian Universalists of all ages come to church seeking a community where we can create experiences that will inspire, inform and strengthen us. We want our individual and collective efforts to make a positive difference in the world. ‘Faith in Action’ Sundays begin with an abbreviated, multigenerational worship service, followed by a choice of social justice activities. ‘Faith In Action’ Sundays are one way that we can fulfill our mission as we practice our faith together.

Once each year the UUMAN Youth put together a worship service to give their points of view. The service is built around a specific topic, such as Prejudice, which is presented from different, young perspectives. All our talented youth participate in what has become a favorite service for everyone – full of wonderful music, speakers, humor, and love.

Holiday Services

Each year, we recognize Thanksgiving with a special service, and often with special outreach activities, such as our participation in IRC’s Thanksgiving Dinner, which provides food for local refugees.

On Christmas eve, we offer two services: An earlier family service, often featuring the UUMAN Holiday Pageant, and a later, more reflective, candlelight worship service.

In recognition of the Jewish holiday of Passover, we typically offer a Passover seder and potluck dinner – a family-friendly event with songs and fellowship, grounded in the traditions of the holiday.

UUMAN offers two opportunities each week for contemplative practice.
