What’s going on here? Can “what goes on here” be best described by SNAFU? What are the answers? Who do we think has them? What makes us think they have them? What does all this say about us?
Fate and fortune have puzzled theologian, philosophers, all of humanity throughout human history. Is “what goes on here” defined by arbitrariness or is there some kind of puzzling direction to our existence? What are we to do?
According to the ancient Indian sage Patanjali, in its most basic sense, yoga is the “cessation of the turning of thought.” Yet, modern western philosophy is said to start with Descartes who uttered his famous phrase “I think, therefore I am.” Well…what are we to make of this?
A “Mulligan” in golf is a do-over. It’s your chance to, without penalty, try again when your shot goes into the next fairway, into an unforgiving patch of poison ivy, etc. This is a very good rule. How can we apply this to our work at UUMAN?
