In these polarized and trying times, it can be hard to listen to our better angels and easy to fall into angry, vindictive thoughts. But is that who we want to be? How do we remain compassionate toward people who are doing horrible things? How do we remember the common humanity we share, even with our enemies? How can we resist being dragged down by the world, and remain true to who we are?

This service features our own, much loved, Kim Palmer. After a long career in engineering and environmental consulting, Rev. Kim Palmer became a UU minister and was ordained by UUMAN in 2014. She was trained as a chaplain and subsequently earned a Master of Science in public health as a Transforming Chaplaincy Fellow, combining those skills at Emory University Hospital in the dual role of chaplain and spiritual health researcher. She retired last July with her spouse Marty and continues to train chaplains and support research projects at Emory and elsewhere as a contractor. When not working, she and Marty chip away at numerous house and yard projects, while they wait for Covid to settle down enough that they can begin travelling. Rev. Kim facilitates the cancer support group at UUMAN and preaches occasionally at area congregations.
